Steve Parisi

It all started with an idea, and a bit of help from a friend.

My journey into carving started pretty typically. I had been doing a lot of duck hunting, and I was very interested and intrigued by the old hand carved decoys that I saw pics of. I’ve always been someone to enjoy “making things”. As a fly-fisherman, I tied my flies, made my rods. I enjoyed getting to learn about how to make things. So once I was consumed by duck hunting, the next logical step was to start carving my own decoys…. BUT I had no real woodworking experience, no tools, and no real idea of where to start. I did however have a good friend who was a woodworker with a full shop, and he graciously offered to help me setup my first block for carving. (THANKS MICHAEL!). That was back in 2005, and I’ve been hooked on carving decoys since. Everyday life has made it a bit hard to be consistent with my carving, (kids, work, etc…), but I’m getting to a place where I have more time to carve, and I love creating and making all kinds of different styles and birds.

I hope you enjoy looking at some of my decoys from the past. I’m always working on new things and I try to keep the site “up to date’. Please feel free to reach out if there’s something that you’re interested in.
